Maxim ride-hailing & delivery Joins Community Effort to Improve Home for Elderly Bloemfontein Resident
Maxim partnered with the Chief Leeuw Foundation and Net99 to renovate the home of an 80-year-old lady Caleb Motshabi resident, providing her with a much-needed indoor toilet. The initiative was part of the 10th Annual Ous Annie Mabule Day celebrations, supported by Ward 10 Councillor Teboho Setlaba and local beauty queens from Purpose Driven Queens, who brought joy to the event with songs.
For the elderly woman the new toilet is life-changing. Struggling with diabetes, high blood pressure, and limited mobility, she previously relied on an outdoor toilet—a daily challenge.
"As an 80-year-old living with diabetes and high blood pressure, using an outside toilet was a huge struggle. I move slowly with my walker, so it took me forever just to get there," she shared. "Now, thanks to everyone who made this possible, my life will be much easier. I am so grateful."
The Chief Leeuw Foundation identified her need after assisting her with a SASSA card renewal in March. "When she asked for help with transport, we saw her living conditions and knew we had to act," said a foundation representative. "We reached out to our partners, including Maxim, to build her a proper toilet. Next month, we’ll return to tile it—this is just the beginning."
"We are honored to contribute to this meaningful initiative that directly improves the quality of life for community members. Supporting our elderly residents aligns perfectly with our commitment to corporate social responsibility. This project demonstrates how collaborative efforts can create tangible, positive change - whether it's addressing immediate needs like home improvements or broader challenges like transportation access," Lemphane Lesoli the representative of Maxim ride-hailing & delivery.
This initiative highlights the power of community collaboration and corporate responsibility, proving that even small changes can make a big difference in people’s lives.
